【TS读书】《了不起的盖茨比》&英语书籍阅读团打卡1

多谢阿素推荐的梁文道的一千零一夜。很多时候看书,如果是自己不熟悉的,一定要先看看书的背景和作者的介绍。才大概会对一本书有更深刻的理解。


这本书,我先读的中文,接着听的梁文道的一千零一夜讲述此书的大背景,之后又搜索了一些有关作者的信息,加上海明威在《流动的盛宴》中提到的作者,然后又看了一遍英文版本。

本文的作者菲茨杰拉德以他的妻子泽尔达为《了不起的盖茨比》中女主角黛西的原型。美丽,高傲,富有智慧,当然对享乐也有独到的想法。最后两个人的婚姻也是不太幸福。海明威的《流动的盛宴》中, 海明威有讲到和菲茨杰拉德在欧洲的友谊,他们甚至相互昵称“菲兹”与“海姆”。泽尔达·菲茨杰拉德曾嫉妒的评价说:“我丈夫和海明威他们两个人在一起的样子简直就像是一对情侣!” 也正是因为菲兹杰拉德这位伯乐,发现了海明威这位千里马,使得一带文坛巨匠被大家熟知。不过菲兹杰拉德发现了海明威之后,自己也没有更棒的作品面世了。


这本书给我的最大的两个感触一个是人性的善恶,第二个就是浮躁的金钱社会。这两样到现在依旧存在着。

孟子的“人性本善”,荀子的“人性本恶”。无论谁对谁错,善恶总是相互共存的。

Tom,一个富家纨绔子弟,不知道什么叫忠诚,背叛自己的老婆。自己的情人死后,还说他回到和情人一起的那个房子也很伤心。

Daisy,爱慕虚荣,昏头昏脑,不敢承认自己的错误。明明是自己的错,最后倒霉的确实一直深爱她的那个人。

这两个人真的算是绝配啊,做错事了就成了缩头乌龟。除了自私,我也想不到其它的词儿来形容这两位了。他们对别人是一点都不在乎的,一点同情心都没有。


对于Gatsby,我是同情,佩服他的。看看他小时候自己写下来的作息时间,又有多少人能坚持做到呢?这样一个对自己严格要求的人,怎么能不成功。他对爱情的专一,到最后我觉得是有点疯狂的状态,反复的说着Daisy爱着自己,只爱自己。他也很了不起,为了追逐自己的爱,一个穷小子逆袭成了一个有钱人,为了守护自己爱的人,失去了生命。然后呢?换来的是被守护的那个人,跑了。之前一直来他家参加party的人,没一个出现的,和他合作的人也不愿意出现。整本书几乎看不到温情。每个人都有自己的算盘。Gatsby的party,很多人都是不请自来。有人说他是好人吗?在人家的party上几乎没有说他好的。盖茨比最开始出场的那场party,没有人去和他跳舞或者聊天, 他一个人站在那儿,那个场景让我觉得很难过。


大家对金钱,权利的追逐,古今中外都是那么的相似。每个人都梦想着成为那个有钱人,沉侵在物欲横流的社会里。东海岸的股票交易,纸醉金迷的生活作风。当时的美国梦,一直在吸引着人们奔向它。这本书的写作时间虽然快100年了,可那个时候的美国梦和现在的中国梦我和梁文道的观点一样,是相似的。看看现在的中国,好多人对权利金钱的追逐已经让他们失去了理智。也许这也是社会发展毕竟的过程吧。真心希望我们不要只追逐金钱和权利。还有一些很温暖的事情值得我们去追寻。

Finally, I finished the book 《The Great Gatsby》. It was a great book, but it was a sad story as well. I read the Chinese version first and then read the english version. 


The very first time I knew the book was actually through the movie. Haven’t seen the movie yet, because in my opinion the book is always better than the movie. Except the book is published after the movie. 


The novel’s background was in the 1920s, which was so-called “Jazz Age”. At the beginning, the book was not popular until the second world war when the soldiers in batter-field received the book from Unite States. They said it is one of the classic book in the American novel and in the filled of literature.


The other reason I knew the book was because of the Hemingway. Hemingway’s book 《A moveable feast》described the time or the friendship between himself and F. Scott Fitzgerald. They were good friends during that time. But later on, there were drift apart as Hemingway’s reputation grew, and Fitzgerald became enmeshed in personal tragedy. 


Fitzgerald’s wife, Zelda, the beautiful and troubled wife, was the inspiration of the character Daisy, whose life seemed to parallel Zelda’s life in most ways. All the parties they were attended were the raw material to fill this book. 


Daisy, I did not like her either. She seemed very beautiful, loveable, and maybe simple-minded, otherwise Gatsby would not love her so much.

Tom, I did not like this character. He, was disloyal,was profligate son of the rich, having an affair with other woman. His lover, was died somehow because of him. He was really a disgusting person. 

They were really perfect couple, who were both careless, matched to each other。


Gatsy, was arrogant, charming, wonderful as well. And at the last, I thought that he was too stupid to be killed by nothing he had not done. What a tragedy! 


After Gatsby’s death, seems no one caring about Gatsby’s death. Daisy and Tom left on the trip without any messages. Other peoples who had been attended Gatsby’s parties regularly, refused to come to the funeral, even became involved.  


The last sentence, to myself.

"Every person has a green light in the distance. Every person is trying to reach sty behind the mist. "
