chapter 4

This chapter tells us three pieces of information:

The list of names of people who came to Gatsby's house that summer was written down on the empty spaces of a timetable.So the timetable told us where those people came from.They came from East Egg and West Egg.But most of those people paid Gatsby the subtle tribute of knowing nothing whatever about him.

Nike and Gatsby went out for lunch.Gatsby asked Nick what Nick's opinion of him was.Then he told Nick something about his life because he did't want Nick to get a wrong idea of him from all those stories heard.Why did Gatsby tell Nick those?When I read this part,I wanted to know why.The later part of the book told us.

Then the time came back to the year of 1917.Jordan Baker told what happened about Daisy in that year.Then Baker had seen Gatsby.But after that,she did't lay eyes  on Gatsby again for over four years.The day before Daisy and Tom's wedding,Daisy got a letter from Gatsby.Then the time came back.In fact,Gatsby half ecpected Daisy to wander into one of his parties.Gatsby invited Nick to his parties because Nick was Dasiy's cousin and Nick's house was next to his mansion.

"If you will invite Daisy to your house some afternoon and let him come over".
