Accordingto Jay Weber, vice president in charge of North American debit and ATM systemsfor FIS Global, "An ATM machine purchased in the last five years ... wouldonly need a software upgrade of $4,000 to 5,000 per machine." Thatsoftware cost is so high in part because much specialized software written forWindows XP can't be easily ported to a new operating system. But ATMs 10 yearsold or more would need to be completely replaced, and Weber says that newhigh-end ATMs can cost at least $50,000 to $60,000 per device.
ATMoperators and business owners are largely being left to decide on their ownwhether to upgrade or not, says Weber. "Organizations are trying to lookat the investment of the upgrade and weight it against their perceivedrisk" -- and many seem to be ready to take their chances. "[April9th] is going to come and go, and there are going to be some merchants whohaven't done it yet," says Berkeley.Weber speculates that "it's going to be a trickle approach, a slower ramp-up," with many systems goingwithout an upgrade -- and remaining officially insecure -- through the end of2014.
This hesitancy may be worsened becauseoperators are getting mixed messages about their risk. The Payments CardIndustry Security Standards Council has issued public warnings about the needfor retailers to upgrade their point of sale systems, but their current set ofstandards, which are used to determine eligibility to operate on credit card networks, donot require it. And Weber himself seems sanguine: "The risk is hard to quantify. There's a lot of technology inplace in the marketplace to help mitigate the risk," such as the "fairlyclosed telecom environment" that most payment systems operate on.
But Bogdan Botezatu, seniore-threat analyst for the anti-malware software company Bitdefender, couldn'tdisagree more. He talks about the issue with the barely suppressed terror of a fatherwatching his teenage son drive solo for the first time. "They're notpanicky," he says, "and actually that makes me panicky."
Botezatu, who haunts underground hacking forums to keep an eye on looming securitythreats, claims that hackers are gearing up to raidsuddenly insecure XP machines the minute Microsoft support ends. "When anoperating system is announced as reaching its end of life, [hackers] arefrantically looking for exploits, because then they can use it indefinitely," he says. "It's the holygrail of malware."
Theseexploits could range fromstealing credit card information from small vendors to even more dramatic formsof theft, many of them easily circumventing external security measures such as the semi-closedpayments network. Botezatu says there have been reports of an ATM exploit through a mobilephone connected through an ATM's card reader. He also cites a legendary stunt by the securityexpert Barnaby Jack at the Black Hat security conference in 2010, where hedemonstrated a "Jackpotting" hack that easily emptied an XP-based ATMmachine. According to Botezatu, Jack, who died in 2013, never revealed thenature of this exploit, meaning that it could remain an unpatched vulnerability in XP-basedmachines.
Mosttroubling of all, Botezatu predicts that unsecured XP machines of all kindswill be compromisedby hackers to form new botnets. This kind of system, in which hacked systems' processors are put to new tasksunbeknownst to their owners, can be used for everything from massive Denial of Service attacksto mining cryptocurrency, and would add substantially to the insecurity of the Internet as a whole."I see a lot of trouble," Botezatu warns.
WhetherApril 9th brings a plague of cash-spewing ATMs, zombie PCs, and thieving credit-card readers remains to be seen. ButBotezatu sounds exasperatedthat he even has to consider these scenarios. "It's an operating systemthat was released 13 years ago. Everyone should have started migrating two orthree years ago" to avoid the mad rush and risks that come with the end ofsupport. He hopes, at least, that this episode will motivate today's users tothink about the future.
"Thisis going to happen soon with other operating systems," Botezatu says."You should start upgrading from Windows 7 now."

7Reasons Why You Will Never Do Anything Amazing With Your Life你还没成功的7个原因
I’mlooking you in the eyes, (ok well, not really since you are probably readingthis article, but figuratively, I am burning a cyclops type hole in your faceright now) and telling you that you don’t stand a chance.
I’mtelling you that if you can read this article, look through this list and notclaim it as your own, then you should be a little worried.
Actually, you should be very worried. You should drop everything and immediately questionyour existence on earth. You should find a mirror, look yourself in the eyes, raise your hand and slap yourself in the face.
Gotit? Now repeat that until you come to your senses and continue reading wheneveryou’re ready.
I’mnot talking about the: study hard, party light, graduate top-of-your-class skills.
I’mnot even talking about the: slack-off, skip class, smoke weed, drink and partybut still graduate, skill-set your $50, 000+ diploma has lead you to believeyou have.
“I’mtalking ’bout, step out your door, make some moves, and get-some-shit-done,kind of skills! Some, move out your mama’s house, quit your job — say “fuck the world” — and then actually go do it,kind of skills”.
Skillsthat can be had by anyone willing to pay the price to get them. Skills that arequickly becoming extinct.
I’mtalking about skills that cannot be taught in a classroom or in a textbook.Skills you can only learn by doing; by learning how to fly after jumping offthe cliff.
Skillsthat can only be developed when you find your true self. When you put yourself on the line or otherwiseexpose yourself to the possibility of failure.
Theskills you can only develop when you are willing to risk it all in order to dothat one amazing thing.
Skillsthat up until now,you thought you had.
Becauseyou are comfortable in your mediocrity; because you choose not to try.
Becauseit is easier to talk about learning that new (programming?) language as opposedto actually learning it.
Becauseyou think everything is too hard or too complicated so you will just “sit this one out”, ormaybe you’ll, “do-it-tomorrow”!
Becauseyou hate your job but won’t get a new one; because it is easy to rejectrejection.
Becausewhile you’re sitting around failing to try, I am out there trying to fail, challenging myself, learning new things and failing as fast as possible.
Becauseas I fail, I learn, and then adjust my course to make sure my path is alwaysforward. Like the process of annealing steel, I’ve been through the fire and pounded into shape. Theshape of a sword with polished edges and a razor sharp blade that will cut you in half if youare not equally hardened.
Because you believe that being different isonly cool if you’re different in the same way that other people are different.
Becauseyou are afraid to embrace your true self for fear of how the world will seeyou. You think that because you judge others, this means that those peoplemust, in-turn, be judging you.
Becauseyou care more about the stuff you have as opposed to the things you’ve done.
Becausewhile you’re out spending your money on new outfits, new cars, overpriced mealsor nights at the bar, I’ll be investing in myself. And while you try to fit inwith the world I’ll make the world fit in with me.
BecauseI will recklessly abandon all insecurities and expose my true self to theworld. I will become immune to the impact of your opinion and stand naked in acrowd of ideas; comfortable in knowing that while you married the mundane I explored theexceptional.

This hesitancy may be worsened becauseoperators are getting mixed messages about their risk.
"Thisis going to happen soon with other operating systems," Botezatu says."You should start upgrading from Windows 7 now."
The process of aging isnatural and it isn’t something you can stop from happening. As you age, your skinstarts to lose its moistness and become more prone to damage. However, thereare many natural ways available to slow down the aging process and look young.
Drink Plenty of Water

Having adequate water content in the body will keep yourinternal organs hydrated as well as in good working condition. Additionally, itcan help your digestive system run smoothly and stop bowel irregularity. Lastbut not least, it’ll help your actual skin look flexible, vibrant and supple bykeeping it hydrated and flushing out wastes from the body.
Reduce Stress
Every person has stressin their life, and if you learn to manage it, then you’ll find your life is away better. Researches reveal that mental stress speeds up the aging process. When you’re stressed out,you lose the body’s natural balance which in turn causes damage to bodily hormone secretion,cell-repair, and collagen generation. Yoga, deep breathing and meditation can cut down stress, boostoxygen and blood flow and improve energy level.
Get a Fruit Facial
Make your own facialmask with the fruit of your liking. You can smear some papaya mix on your face. The fruit enzyme, called papain, exfoliates dried-outskin and reduces melanindeposition. Or rub a sliced strawberry that’s infused with plenty of beta carotene and vitamin-A to aid in regeneration ofcollagen. Natural aloe-verais yet another best homemade anti-aging skin care solution which you can use toget rid of facial lines, wrinkles and slow down aging naturally. Thisall-natural anti-aging skin care ingredient is of course soothing and healing, and is effective when combined with other remedies as well.
Exercise Regularly
Exercise is apparentlyan integral step inany skincare regimen.Physical exercise will help maintain muscle-tone and flexibility as you getolder and also improve overall health and fitness, help protect against heartproblems, and help you stay look and feel younger. Exercise will enhance theblood flow throughout the body which can even help keep your brain fit. Aconvenient way of getting the required workout is to take up walking. Going for walks isan excellent cardio-vascularactivity and is proved to be life-extending.
Follow Healthy Diet
You should stick to a well-balanceddiet plan with the majority of your foods being vegetables and fruit. Stay awayfrom red meat or beef and stick to seafood if possible. Say goodbye to thewhite bread and choose whole grain products. The fruits and vegetables provideyour body with vital anti-oxidants that fight free-radicals which are acontributing factor to age-related illness and diseases. Eating healthily willhelp you look and feel better and provide you with tons of energy in order todo all those stuffs you loved to do.

1 ::Because You Have Not Failed Enough

Theshape of a sword with polished edges and a razor sharp blade that will cut you in half if youare not equally hardened.
2 ::Because You Care What Others Think About You
